I love how you refer to her as your mother in love. Such a precious gift from the Lord to be blessed in this way. I'm sure you are a joy to her too.

I'm glad to see you value weathered hands. I had to laugh because my hands are my worst feature as far as I'm concerned. Too much handwashing as a nurse, I guess. OH well ...

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS POST. I WATCH HANDS TOO. I WATCH HANDS AND MOUTHS WITH THE STRANGEST AWE. THERE IS SOMETHING SO AMAZING ABOUT WATCHING SOMEONE WITH MORE LIFE EXPERIENCE TEACHING ME ABOUT LIFE AND LOVE AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN.

I USED TO STARE AT MY GRANDFATHER EVERYTIME WE SAT DOWN TO A MEAL TOGETHER OR WHEN HE WOULD SIT AND WRITE HIS NOTES. WATCHING THE MASSIVENESS OF HIS HANDS HOLD HIS PEN SO LIGHTLY AND THE MAGIC THAT CAME OUT OF THAT PEN JUST LEFT ME SPEECHLESS.

I ALWYAS THOGHT I WAS THE ONLY PERSON DOING THINGS LIKE THIS. I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE WE HAVE SO MANY MORE THINGS IN COMMON THAN I COULD HAVE EVER IMAGINED.

I am touched by your tender comments. Nana...I too look at my hands and think: i should have worn rubber gloves or something . . .however, i'd not have been able to touch what i needed to touch and have it reach to my heart...even cleaning floors. fyi: i'm just a year behind you.

I have always loved elderly hands especially those of a woman. I really am not sure why.

So now I am thinking.

Elderly hands look as though they have worked hard, and loved a lot. They are simply beautiful

Your post could not come on a more appropriate day..I have you on my favorite blogroll list..so when I open I see the new posts..I saw the word "hands".

I just had a moment like this today..although my hands are not as beautiful as your MILoves~

They have traveled and show their age..Primarily because of very thin hands..and almost 56 years of living using my hands for everything including talking:)
We took our 4 yr old grandson for errands about 25 minutes away in the car and I always sit in the back w/ him if his mom isn't there..and even if she is there I ask if I can sit in back with him..:)

Jacques is our chauffeur..

Lulu was in his little seat and my hand is always on him or close:) he said :"nana look at all the bumps on your hands.."(my veins..) and started pulling the skin saying: "your hands are so squishy"..

yes..the skin is thin and pulls up:) This I know:) His hands are beautiful..

I said to him :"Nana doesn't mind her hands..they are older..but if I didn't have these hands..I would not have you.
:)"
